Simon Collins, Chairman of KPMG, visited us earlier this month. He spoke about how his life and career path led to him being Chairman of one of the largest accountancy firms in the world. He mentioned that the RECIPE attributes that Northwood School aims to develop in our learners are essential for the work place. His message of always working hard, having integrity and having fun really resonated with the students.
In November 2014 our Saturday school sessions began for year 10 students. Held in a safe and relaxing atmosphere the students are progressing well. They attend lessons, which focus on aspects of writing or grammar and practise in the same way a sportsperson spends hours practising individual skills – until they are confident. This is an opportunity for the students to strengthen their language skills through the use of an ever-increasing range of materials and activities. Students are encouraged to revise this at home to enhance their progress. They are also able to make use of the sports hall and dance studio to relax during the break.
